Financial Times “European Business Schools Ranking 2020”: VŠE ranked 50th under its new name Prague University of Economics and Business

Today the Financial Times (FT) published the results of the European Business Schools Ranking 2020. The first three places went to the French HEC Paris, the British London Business School and the French INSEAD. In the ranking with the 90 best European schools, the Prague University of Economics and Business ranked 50th, improved by 5 places compared to 2019, and ranked 2nd in Central and Eastern Europe.

The FT rankings are based on data provided by universities and their graduates. The four main criteria are MBA programs, Executive Education programs, follow-up master’s programs in management and the quality of the academic staff (share of PhD teachers, number of foreign teachers and women´s representation). In particular, 18th place in the evaluation of managerial follow-up master’s programs represented by the Faculty of Business Administration helped the excellent position of VŠE.

This year’s ranking is traditionally dominated by French (22 in total) and British universities (19). Of the Central and Eastern European countries, only the Czech Republic (VŠE, under the new name Prague University of Economics and Business), Poland (Kozminski University, 45th place), Russia (St. Petersburg University, 51st place and IBS-Moscow Ranepa, 58th place) and Slovenia (University of Ljubljana, 82nd place) are represented. Surprisingly, the traditional competitors of VŠE, i.e. the Hungarian Corvinus University and the Polish Warsaw School of Economics, dropped out of the ranking.
